It’s not always doubt that stops us, sometimes it’s the pressure to live up to an idea of who we should be. I've finally reached a moment in life where I'm gently letting go of expectations, both the ones placed on me and the ones I unknowingly placed on myself. I'm learning to stand in who I am… softly, but fully.
Being a person living abroad carries its own quiet weight, shaped by assumptions tied to the corner of the world you come from. I try not to take it to heart; I imagine most people are simply trying to make sense of their own lives, not mine. But what lingers is how easily quiet judgment sometimes finds its way to others, how often someone is made to feel small simply for thinking differently.
I’ve seen luminous lives dimmed by the need to fit in, boxed in by expectations they never asked for. Some stories unfold quietly in the shadows, shaped more by fear than freedom. And that, more than anything, makes me pause.

Travel has softened me. It’s reminded me that culture is a lens, not a rulebook. That every community has a different rhythm, and every person moves in their own time. I’ve met those who stay rooted and those who drift like wind, each following a path that makes sense to them. All of them, in some way, reaching for peace, for meaning, for belonging.
The more I listen, the more I understand: none of us holds the full truth. Not even the clearest voice in the room. We’re all just moving through this life, learning as we go… carrying stories only we can tell.
I’ve come to believe this: the most content people I’ve met are too busy living to judge. They’re not chasing sameness. They’re not measuring paths. They’re simply being.
Maybe our only task is to follow what feels honest, and leave room for others to do the same.
We’re not here to fix each other... we’re here to grow beside one another. To listen more gently. To wonder more often. And maybe that’s what freedom really is.
